I thought I would do a bit of an introduction to tell you a bit more about me and my family…..I realise this is a bit late and I probably should have done this first. LOL!
Better later than never though!
So I’m Amy, I’m married to Dan, we have been together for 14 years this October and married for 6 of those.
We have 2 children, Ollie 10 and Arthur 2.
We live in the North East of England, in a rather beautiful place. Although I am always longing to move….Cornwall, Glastonbury, The Netherlands…to name a few.
We are 20 minutes from the coast and 20 minutes from forests and the North Yorkshire Moors, very lucky indeed!
We both work where we live, in a spooky 17th century Hall…..I am a caretaker and Dan does a variety of jobs on site…I am very lucky with the hours I work that it can be worked around the kids.
We home educate Ollie and have done so since the beginning, I am planning a blog post on this so look out…
I try my best to find the magic in everything…..I believe the universe is a magical place full of wonder and mystery, I believe in fairies and Aliens, Mythical creatures and Avalon…LOL
My idealism is probably my biggest downfall…
I believe we are wonderful creatures and we are capable and responsible for creating our most magical lives, and that miracles can happen!
I am also very rooted in this place we call Earth and know that sometimes things don’t feel like this and sometimes it is shit…..and sometimes for no apparent reason, people are dicks.
I am a general all round weirdo. Ha!
Dan is also, but on a more even keel than me. He keeps me grounded and we are each other’s Yin and Yang.
One of my favourite things ever….drinking tea with my love.
I have suffered with depression and anxiety on and off all my life.
I treat this by firstly acknowledging it and creating daily practices that help me to keep the balance, erring on the side of magic!
I practice Witchcraft and have done some I was around 13 years old. I was never taught this it was just something that was already within me.
My spiritual practice keeps me balanced and grounded.
I love crafting…expressing my creativity is vital to me. I love knitting and if it’s anything to do with rainbows, even better!
I love nothing more than being out in nature and as family we recognise the magic and beauty of nature and acknowledge the changing seasons.
Our seasonal Calendar
The most important beliefs we want to pass on to our children is to respect and look after our Earth, treat people how you want to be treated and believe in the magic!
We follow respectful/ gentle/ child led parenting practices, this is something I am constantly learning about.
In our home I have always followed (loosely) the Steiner/ Waldorf approach to learning/ home education.
We are not strict waldorf followers, mainly that we appreciate the need/want for media/ technology. It is just important to find the correct balance of this that works for our family.
I fully believe that learning through play is THE best way to learn, and if you’ve read my blog so far you will see our love for wooden, natural toys.
We are always trying to find ways to make our footprint on our planet smaller. To live ethically, eco friendly and mindfully.
I’m hoping this blog can encompass all of these things and I hope I can make it interesting for you to read.
If there is anything you would like to see please do let me know.
Thank you so much for reading.
