I though I’d share a little about our adventures in wales.
It was the first time we had visited Wales and also the first time we had been on a family holiday, just the four of us for…well, ever!!!
In the past we have always went with Dan’s parents or we have taken one of my nieces/nephews to keep Ollie company.
This time it just felt much needed for us to be alone, just our little family, and it was so lovely.
We stayed at Hafan Y Mor Haven site. It was a bit of last minute booking and a bargain at £400 for the full week….
The drive there went amazing well, it was 4 hours for us to get there…with well timed naps and a fully charged I Pad it went very smoothly!
We arrived at the site on the Friday Afternoon and it was so so busy and noisy….me and dan looked at each other and and our unspoken words where, ‘what the fuck have we done?!’ Haha.
It was crazy busy, the queues were huge for everything, there was litter everywhere too.
I was beginning to think we should have just booked a little cottage by the sea (the original plan, but much more expensive!)
After a little walk, we discovered a beautiful little beach, that wasn’t busy at all! We quickly made this into a nightly thing.
Come Sunday afternoon, and the summer holidays ending, the site went really quiet, which was great for us! Huge benefit of Home Education is being able to go on holiday outside of the school holidays….
It was also much cleaner. The huge amount up people just made it untidy, haha!
There was a water park on site. It was great fun and we went everyday. Just with swimming everyday we saw Arthur’s water skills develop rapidly, he absolutely loved it!! Definitely will be going swimming more at home.
It was lovely for us both to spend one on one time with Ollie too. We were taking turn racing down the water slides, while the other played with Arthur.
The site provided us with a perfect base to explore North Wales.
Obviously I had to take a few toys with us!
On our first day we headed straight to a castle. Harlech castle was stunning!
We drove right up through Snowdonia National Park. So many stunning views and forest walks!
We drove around the Lyn Peninsula, visiting Pwllheli and Abersoch.
Our visit to Portmerion was one of our favourite days out. We chose a beautiful day for it and the village looked magical.
We also spent a day over one the Isle of Anglesea. What a beautiful part of Wales this is.
We visited a lovely aquarium there, the kids both loved it.
The Gwawr made for the perfect picture on the coastline of Anglesea, with the beautiful blue sky…..
I thought they were a lovely souvenir from our holiday.
We spent our days exploring new places at our leisure, ending the days by playing in the water park. Each evening we would head to the beach as the sun was setting.
It was also compulsory for Ollie to hit the arcades (where he spent all his pennies) before we went home!
It turned out to be one of our most chilled and relaxed holidays ever. Arthur was going to bed much later which meant we got to have a sleep in most days, something that never happens at home.
All in all it was pretty perfect and I was sad to come home. It was just so lovely being together everyday.
This is the closest we got to a decent family pic!
I think I would book another Haven holiday, as long as it was out of the school holidays, haha! Also it would have to be close to beautiful places to visit…
I tried to make our Holiday as low waste as possible, taking all our reusables, bottles, wipes, nappies etc. This saves us so much money too….I’m going to make a separate blog for this though.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this little post and it hasn’t been incredibly boring, haha….
Thank you for reading,
