North Shire Adventures

For our third little adventure of the year, we visited North Shire, in North Yorkshire. It was doubly magical as we were also celebrating Arthur’s 3rd Birthday.

North Shire is set within 6 acres of beautiful English countryside. A perfect magical escape. Ran by Carol and her family and created from a passion for fairytales! I first discovered North Shire last year when we visited the Pumpking Patch. It was awesome!

It has been firmly on our list to stay here for a while.

We stayed in a beautiful little Shepherds Hut.

There is lots of other magical accommodation to chose from, such as a hobbit house!! Yes a hobbit house!

It looked so enchanting, surrounded by chickens and ponies, it would make such a magical place to stay for little ones, and big ones! Arthur enjoyed chasing the chickens on top of it!

There is also Gypsy Wagons…these looked amazing.

There is also a couple of holiday cottages to stay in, including the Story Book cottage.

Coming in April is the Groundskeepers House…inspiration taken from Hagrids house…these were in the process of being build and they are going to be a major attraction!

There is also space for tents and caravans, so no matter your budget you can come and experience this lovley place.

The Shire also host special events such as weddings. I wish this had been here when we got married, it would be perfect. Past events have included fairy festivals and Wizadry!

North Shire is just a 15 minute drive away from some beautiful places, such as Whitby, one of my favourite places ever, it has lots of quirky little independent shops and cafes and the town always has a magical feel.

We visited Staithes on the way there. Staithes is a beautiful little harbour village, and if your little ones are a fan of CBeebies, also home to Old Jacks Boat!

Perfect for a walk on the beach, some chips and ice cream and a visit to a pretty little traditional sweet shop, it made for the sweetest birthday celebrations…

There is so many beautiful places, close by, such as Danby. Danby is placed perfectly within the North Yorkshire Moors, and has some magical places to discover, like these enchanting fairy houses.

The Shepherds Hut was adorable. It was big enough for two adults and two children. There was a huge cosy bed, with more then enough room for Dan, Arthur and I. Ollie had a large single bed all to himself.

It was heated too, which made all the difference, as when the sun went down, the winds blew wildly! Most importantly, it’s fully equipped for cooking and making tea and coffee 🙂

It was a beautiful view from the Hut, overlooking an atmospheric stone circle.

There was a little play frame for the kids to play on, that we could see form the Hut, which was great. A perfect gathering place for all the kids to play!

Arthur enjoyed opening his birthdays presents in bed upon waking.

There was also a little barn that housed the cutest animals. Arthur was overjoyed, and spent most of his time chasing chickens around the Shire. Luckily we were around for feeding time which was a treat for Arthur!

On site was the Green Dragon Tea Room.

An enchanting place to grab a little bit to eat, some yummy cakes and a perfect cup of tea.

I also managed to get the best spot in the shop, a cup of tea in front of this beautiful fireplace….

I would highly recommend this lovely place. It’s perfect for families, and the most perfect base for exploring North Yorkshire.
